Hello! :D I'm Dorian (she/her). INTP, Catholic convert, student & celibate lesbian.
This site used to be where I put up the stuff I translate, mostly for personal use, although my biggest project (Sappho fragments) seems to have interested some readers – I'm grateful for everyone's support. :)
Now, however, I'm renovating my site! I'm trying to build a little digital chapel for myself. Again, personal use, but I'm looking forward to making friends too.
I play some piano and guitar. I like rock, punk and indie. Been getting into Adrianne Lenker lately :]
I love reading classic lit! I used to write about Greek mythology and all that sapphic stuff – not anymore though. Trying to re-learn creative writing... :')
I converted to Catholicism very recently. But my search for faith has been a lifelong journey. My parents are atheists, my grandparents are religious; I lived in four countries dominated by different faiths. Therefore, although I've been spiritually inclined since childhood, finding the right faith was a struggle for me.
I've dabbled in many paths (paganism for the longest time lol) and many Christian denominations. Since at least 2023 I've been seriously trying to convert. However, the idea of sin always put me off, and I felt estranged from of God, especially as a gay teen living in an infamously homophobic country. I was suicidal. It was as though every door – love, family, happiness – has been shut in my face. I don't know if God sees homosexuality as a sin. I might've hoped that He doesn't; many say He does; ultimately only He knows. The least we can do is to not put another kid through such torment.
I digress :D Mary's intercession has helped me into the faith. Instead of trying to read God's mind and judging myself, I let Jesus be my only judge and guide. One day He showed me the gift of celibacy. Now it is my armour against the burden of relationships (Paul has a point), but more importantly against the people that'd otherwise try to judge me in God's place.
Now I am a happy Catholic convert. :)
